One Science Fiction Writer I really respect is Virginia Lori Jennings. When she handed me Alien Mind to read awhile back I was amazed at the science is in that book, not to mention the lovely and intriguing story. And now, since she’s signed with PDMI publishing, she’s releasing a newly edited Alien Mind as well as her new book, She asked me if I’d do a cover reveal for her and I’m proud to help her with her tour. The covers are an sure indication of the quality of her writing! You won’t want to pass these by!

For millenia, humans thought they were the only life in the galaxy– until the day an alien species claiming to have humanity’s best interests in mind forces its way onto an unsuspecting exploration craft. In another part of space, the Star Traveler’s crew sets out on a camping trip to the surface of the moon. There, they stumble upon an object covered in alien writing revealing the first piece of a galactic map that will lead them into an intergalactic controversy–all while the Platonian race strives to sabotage their every move.

A Look Inside

The fleet reached Exandra only to find four Platonian ships barring their way.
“Do you think they’d let us by if we said please?” Chris asked over the radio, immediately followed by timid chuckling from the other Hawks.
“Very funny, Chris,” Laurie answered, shaking her head, although no one could see her. “EC 8 ship follow me, Chris you and the others keep the Platonians busy.”
“Roger,” the captain of the EC ship answered.
“Alright then… Be careful Laurie. Hawks, offensive maneuvers!” Chris commanded, taking over.
Just then, the Star Traveler emerged from the Exandrian atmosphere and a voice called over all of the Hawk’s radios.
“Star Traveler to Hawk fleet; do you copy? Over,” Captain Mitchell called.
“Roger that Captain Mitchell; Laurie is escorting the EC ship down to the planet’s surface,” Chris answered.
“Right then, Dr. Eric and I will watch their backs; you and the other Hawks continue running interference.”
“I copy that; over,” Chris stated, dodging a round of fire from one of the Platonian warships and sending back some of his own blasts in return.
The Platonian ships and the Hawk ships had been engaged in heavy combat for quite a few minutes. Suddenly Chris noticed that one of the four Platonian warships, who had been previously staying with the main Platonian attack force, was heading for Laurie and the EC ship that had just escaped the battle scene and were heading for Exandra. Once in range the Platonian warship fired upon the two ships. Swiftly Captain Mitchell and Dr. Eric in the Star Traveler intercepted and received the near fatal blow intended for the EC ship.
Glancing over her shoulder, Laurie saw that the Star Traveler’s engines were dead and five hawk ships coming to their defense.
“Don’t worry about us,” Captain Mitchell’s voice called over the transmission static, “get the EC ship to Exandra.”
“Roger,” Laurie confirmed; fighting the urge to go help her friends.
“First order of business is to escort the EC ship safely to Exandra,” Laurie reminded herself.
Just before Laurie and the EC ship entered into Exandra’s atmosphere and were swallowed by the light blue sky, Laurie glanced once more over her shoulder at the raging battle, just in time to see a Platonian warship fire upon the Star Traveler.

About Virginia

When V.L. Jennings isn’t traveling to other worlds through her imagination, she calls Dillon, South Carolina her home. Virginia is the author of two speculative fiction books; “Visionary From The Stars” and “The Alien Mind,” both published by PDMI Publishing, LLC in the fall season of 2014. She has also illustrated a children’s book for PDMI, titled “Wiggle Worm’s Shape Adventures,” written by Karen and Kathy Sills.

But what motivates Virginia to create, to illustrate, to prognosticate? Virginia is a speculator, the kind of person who always debates the “what if?” of where stories both true and fantastical are leading themselves to, which explains her love of post-apocalyptic fare such as “The Walking Dead.” Through her writing, she enjoys trying to figure out what our human potential is, and where our innate desire for a better world could lead us.

Overall, Virginia is just about as real as a person can get. Yes, even authors love to sing along with their favorite local radio station while driving, and Virginia is no exception to this rule. She enjoys watching Doctor Who or Star Trek with her family over dinner, and also watching the latest sci-fi and action movies with her husband. On the weekends, you may even find Virginia and her family at the local comic book store, hunting down more comics to add to their collections.

Virginia loves to connect with new people, as well as hashing out story concepts and other creative ideas on her blog, .
